A refractive error is a most common eye disorder. It occurs when the eye cannot clearly focus on an object .
The most common refractive errors are:
- Nearsightedness (myopia) makes far-away objects look blurry.
- Farsightedness (hyperopia) makes nearby objects look blurry.
- Astigmatism can make far-away and nearby objects look blurry or distorted.
Refractive errors cannot be prevented, but they can be diagnosed by an eye examination and treated with corrective glasses, contact lenses or refractive surgery.
Presbyopia -physiological insufficiency of accommodation leading to progressive near vision problem . Can be corrected with near vision glasses
